Brisbane

South Bank

There is lots to do at South Bank, home to AEGC 2021. Streets Beach, Aquativity Water Park and Picnic Island Playground are just some of the popular attractions within South Bank Parklands. The South Bank Parklands Playground is a bright and colourful, open space set against a backdrop of Streets Beach and the Brisbane River. Framed by South Banks green areas and beautiful shady trees this is a playground that boasts BBQ facilities, a plethora of cafes and riverside views. Riverside Green is the ultimate family destination that everyone, no matter what their age, can enjoy.

Aquativity is a free interactive water-play park features a range of educational play elements that remind you of the rivers, creeks, fish and mammals that are found in the area. Tipping buckets, shooting fountains, shallow pools and outdoor showers means hours of water fun for the kids.

Queensland Museum is a great place to enjoy learning all year round, but celebrate that extra holiday buzz with their scheduled Holiday Programs. More information on their 2021 Programs to come!

Roma Street Parklands

Overflowing with wildlife and with wide open areas for kids to run free, Roma Street Parklands is the best natural playground. It is home to not one, but two fantastically thought out playgrounds.

Spread generously over 16 hectares, its lush green lawns, flower gardens, forests, lakes and playgrounds are only some of its features and you can easily spend a full day of family fun and exploration there discovering all it has to offer.  Perfect for kids of all ages, you can explore the parkland easily on foot at your own leisure or via one of the many free guided walks.  Most popular with kids though (and adults too!)  is the sweet, colourful, trackless train that you can board for a simple gold coin donation.  Dropping off and picking up from numerous spots the ‘Parkland Explorer’ weaves along the pathways, crosses bridges and even navigates the different levels of the forest section all the while giving you an audio guide of the park. It is the perfect place to visit for any family looking to combine a relaxed meal out with some fun and entertainment at the same time.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, located in Brisbane’s South, is the ultimate in animal fun for kids and families. Boasting the largest koala sanctuary in the world, they were also the first to establish an environment especially catering for the welfare of koalas. Cuddle a koala, feed the kangaroos and lorikeets, visit the barn-yard animals and catch one of the many shows held daily.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is a 20 minute drive from the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. You can also catch a boat from the Convention Centre, directly to the Sanctuary.
